The story of Projectkhat began with a similar interest we sisters had: Calligraphy. The beautiful art of writing; Arabic calligraphy also known as Khat (خط).
We produced our first design works, and since then, we grew in skills and ideas. We hope to spread the love and appreciation for the art of writing through our khat pieces & to relive a part of Jawi writing - a former writing system for the Malay language before its romanisation known as Rumi - which is slowly being forgotten in the current times.
